Rod: thank you for your recent posts. I have been delving into Bill Porter‘s writing a bit more lately and I am reading his book Road to Heaven. Beyond that I have a couple of his others, including Zen baggage waiting in the wings. While trying to empty myself, slow down and stop focusing on the negative aspects of our current political situation and world, I am just wondering how you cope with trying to be a good citizen, who is informed about what is going on within the framework of buddhist thought. I would enjoy your thoughts on this and I suspect many others would as well. Thanks again for your thoughtfulness, Gregg.

Thanks for your interest in this work Gregg. An important part of Taoism is the concept of "no trying" as opposed to trying to be a good citizen. Just be. Our current political situation and the world seems hell bent on self-destruction. There is nothing you are I are going to do about that. We want our grandchildren to sort it out. To repent, I guess.

Enjoy the gift of life for what it is. Enjoy the beauty and mystery of the natural world. That beauty and mystery is very likely to experience extreme degradation over the next ten or twenty years, but nature will return. There will very likely be no humans around. We had our chance and we blew it.

Nature bats last.

And, by the way, without more financial support, Heron Dance will cease to exist.

A very big YES to that piece!

Living an ordinary life that is considerate of all forms surrounding that life starts the quiet magical adventure of an extra ordinary life.
