Today’s Creativity as a Way of Life is taken from Archibald Campbell’s journal in which he explores a couple of his most counterproductive tendencies – his inclination to start new projects, new paintings rather than finish ones in progress. His attraction to change, to unpredictability and the possible roots of those in his childhood.
He gets kind of down on himself, but then finds a degree of solace from something he once heard novelist Isabel Allende say in a TED talk:
Heart is what drives us and determines our fate. That is what I need for my characters in my books: a passionate heart. I need mavericks, dissidents, adventurers, outsiders and rebels, who ask questions, bend the rules and take risks. . . Nice people with common sense do not make interesting characters. They only make good former spouses.

The numbers of people who read my work regularly but don’t support it would indicate that many believe that creative work should be free like the air we breathe.
